The 2022 Spending in Retirement Survey found that 70% of retirees depend on Social Security as their major source of income and 1 in 3 spend between $2000 to $3999 on living expenses monthly. Writing and editing, consulting, and bookkeeping are three ways retirees can turn their lifelong work experience into profitable, work-from-home jobs. Writing and editing can pay $30 an hour, consulting can pay $42 an hour and bookkeeping can pay $20 an hour. To be successful in these roles, retirees should market themselves, network, set competitive rates and know when to take on clients or let them go.
